The Gateway at Three Sisters – Building 13+14

Commercial

Canmore, Alberta

Located in the heart of the Gateway at Three Sisters, this university complex is thoughtfully designed to support a wide range of learning, social, and community-oriented activities. The architecture blends traditional mountain elements such as gable roofs, stone arcades, and regionally inspired materials with a contemporary design approach that reflects innovation and forward thinking. This balance creates a distinctive mountain campus that is both rooted in its setting and expressive of an active and engaging educational environment. The buildings are carefully oriented to connect with the surrounding landscape, reinforcing a strong relationship to the outdoor lifestyle that defines the region and encourages year-round interaction with the natural environment.

The spatial programming of the complex accommodates a variety of uses while promoting collaboration and everyday campus life. Commercial-style units provide space for classrooms, conference and meeting rooms, administrative and faculty offices, and adaptable learning areas. A central communal food court acts as a social gathering place, bringing students, staff, and visitors together and strengthening a sense of community. Additional shared spaces and circulation areas are designed to support informal interaction and collaboration across disciplines. Together, the integrated planning, architectural expression, and functional diversity establish a vibrant university destination that supports learning, engagement, and community life within the Gateway at Three Sisters.
