The Duke was designed as a 47 apartment-style condominium located in Mission Calgary, directly off of 17th Avenue. The building includes 1 and 2-bedroom apartments and four townhomes integrated into a unique W-shaped building. The unique shape helped appeal to the inner-city demographic, who wanted more unique layouts and outdoor patio spaces; the Duke provided the market with a wide variety.

The design intent was to help create an internal community amongst the inhabitants while providing Calgary with a unique precedent on how alternative housing can be high quality without a high budget. This project is considered successful by the city of Calgary and used widely as a precedent to enhance quality of life for inhabitants using interesting design in wood-frame construction.
